New Year, New Me?

     Hello everyone!

I know that it's pretentious to post on new years, but it has got me thinking so I figured what better thing than to go to my Blog?

The new year is always full of promises, for new relationships, new jobs, and new opportunities. This influx of "new" brings to question the old saying "new year, new me" and things along the like. While this is brought up every year, as expected, this year it has really stuck out to me. The idea of renewing oneself is not dangerous by all means, but it is the few posts that I have seen talking about their 2025 "rebrand" that will happen to them. This struck a chord with me and really got me thinking, what is causing this insurgence of young people relying on circumstances to change them?

In this age of constant ability to "rebrand" and change, I have begun to worry about how we only change in these sink or swim scenarios. While it is always good to see that we can adapt to whatever is thrown at us, this reliance on outward factors can become dangerous as we become victims of our own stagnation. When I think of enacting change, even in my own life, I find that enacting change is never comfortable, but necessary. While this change may look different for everyone, in my life I have needed to make choices without the help of some of the most trusted people that I had. The ability to move ahead while facing things that - shortly put - suck, pushes one to grow as a person, and I found that it is not just choosing just the bare minimum, but looking out of the dark and into a bright future.

The quote "Isn't it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different" from C. S. Lewis is one that has been on my mind today as it applies almost perfectly to this. The process of change, "rebrand", and growth in general is a slow and painful process that many think  takes the right move, a better situation, or is just unobtainable. Therefore, sometimes this change must be induced by the individual. The thought of some of the change that people think is required may sound torturous but as the quote above indicates, change becomes evident in retrospect. What I'm saying, is that you don't need to have one big life-altering event to shatter your world and make you a better person (I've had it happen once or twice), what people should realize is that you will never see yourself "rebrand" but as you look back, you'll find that every part of you is different.

All of this long a dramatic talk just to say that we change and evolve day by day and we are all (hopefully) becoming better people? Yes, that is what I want to leave you with. And if you're mad that I asked you to read all of this, just think, maybe reading the thoughts and opinions of others helps you become more thoughtful, and by extension, a better person.

Thanks again for stoping and reading. It really means a lot to me!!!!!! <3
