Sharing is caring?
Hello everyone! I hope you've all been having a good year so far. I have been on somewhat of a break from school, and felt that I needed to write. I hope that this doesn't feel too forced but I just need to put my mind to work.
Recently I have been thinking about orange, not just the color, but the fruit as well. The thought of the fruit brings to mind that as you peel the orange, it divides itself into slices. This sentiment is one that warms my heart and gets me thinking about how we share and are made to give parts of ourselves to one another.
Let me explain that better. While we all have our own experiences and way of learning and growing, one of my favorite things that I have read is someone said that we are a collection of everyone we have ever loved. I find that to be true and I see evidence for it all throughout my life. I repeat things that my friends say, my handwriting looks like my dad's, I think about my sisters when I listen to Elvis. All of these things that would not connect for some people make me so happy and fulfilled. In a way we all a patchwork of everyone that we have loved.
That is another reason why I think that an orange is a perfect analogy for people in general, we have all of these pieces that we collect and hold, from people that we have loved, those pieces we hold within ourselves. Maybe we let someone peel off our exterior and view those little things that make us who we are, or maybe we offer them a slice. However it happens, we give little parts of ourselves to each other (this blog is a slice that I offer to you all).
It has been such an honor to receive a slice of life from everyone that I meet, Sometimes it can be such a small slice, but even that can contain a seed. I always hope that I plant a seed within people that I meet. I a lot of times I do. It makes my day when people recognize me, even if it just at a coffee shop or at a store. If being known is being loved, it is truly a gift to be known at all.
However, there is always a downside to some things. Just like the saying goes, "every rose has it's thorn" sometimes you can be given too much or something that you were never supposed to have. This can come in the form of a bad relationship, broken friendship, or even the loss of a loved one. Some of these pieces are sour and leave a bad taste in our mouths, and I know that we have all experienced that somehow.
In the ways of something being so universal, it is almost comforting. Its like a orange slice from the world. That is why this piece is titled as such, is sharing, caring? In my mind it is. The chance to offer not only parts of yourself, but also parts of others that you love is such a privilege.
In closing, thank you all for letting me share this with you. It is such a sweet thing to have my voice be herd and understood. 🧡🍊
And one more thing!!! Here is a favorite poem that I found on pinterest!!!
